Cardfight!! Vanguard and Yu-Gi-Oh! Crossover!

Cardfight!! Vanguard and Yu-Gi-Oh! are the two best card games in the world! An Aichi and Yugi team up would be epic! You know a world is on the line when Yugi duels! Aichi would stand by Yugi's side to save the world form a powerful evil villain.

Yuma is the current main protagonist in the Yugi series. However, he isn't suited for this idea because he is very unpopular among the fans. If this is going to be epic then Yugi is needed. Yugi is the true face of the franchise. Fans are dying to see him duel again! Yuma will only be an eyesore.

This potential crossover can cover Yugi's life after the original series. Yugi hasn't been featured as the sole main antagonist in many years. We don't know what changes Yugi has made to his deck. What kind of XYZ and Synchro monsters could be in Yugi's deck?

Furthermore, this type of film would help Cardfight!! Vanguard get more attention in the West. The West's only way of watching Cardfight!! Vanguard is on YouTube. YouTube is a great way to get your name out there. It isn't generating millions of views per video for Vanguard. Many Western Yu-Gi-Oh! fans would watch this and maybe see Vanguard for the first time.

You can't have an epic crossover without any awesome music! The first season of Yu-Gi-Oh! produced the series’ best duel themes. Some of the themes can fit in along with Cardfight!! Vanguard.

If a Cardfight!! Vanguard and Yu-Gi-Oh! crossover ever happens what would you like it to be about? Who are the heroes and villains? Who is the true king of games?

Unit of The Week: Dragonic Kaiser Vermillion

Go forth and destroy, lightning of the apocalypse! Vermillion Thunderbolt!
[ACT](VC) Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage):[Counter Blast (3)] Until end of turn, this unit gets [Power]+2000 and "[CONT](VC):This unit battles every unit in your opponent's front row in one attack.".
 [CONT](VC/RC):If you have a non-«Narukami» vanguard or rear-guard, this unit gets [Power]-2000.
Stand up! The Narukami air-division commander Dragonic Kaiser Vermillion stands before you in battle! Dragonic Kaiser Vermillion is one of the most powerful Narukami units. Vermillion's Limit Break is deadly! Vermillion can attack the entire front row. The attacked front row units cannot share shields. Thus, the opponent will rarely have enough cards to defend the entire front row.  Furthermore, Vermillion retires possible interceptors. This weakens opponent's defenses.

However, a good player must know when to activate Vermillion's Limit Break. The skill will most likely be used once in a game due to its expensive cost. There are tactics available to help turn cards face up in the damage zone. The most obvious way is getting a heal trigger. In addition, a player can use Demonic Dragon Berserker, Garuda's skill after Garuda lands a successful attack. Garuda can turn a card face up in the damage zone when its attack hits.

Finally, Dragonic Kaiser Vermillion is a better vanguard than Dragonic Overlord, but Dragonic Overlord is the better rear guard. Both units’ skills focus on retiring rear guards. Vermillion's skill can only be used as the vanguard, and he retains twin drive. Dragonic Overlord's skill will cause Dragonic Overlord to lose twin drive if he is the vanguard. On the other hand Dragonic Overlord's skill can be used as a rear guard, and the player will not lose twin drive.

In Conclusion, Dragonic Kaiser Vermillion is a very powerful card when played correctly. He destroys opponent's defensive and offensive units in one chaotic attack. He clearly deserves a spot in a Narukami deck.

Card Rating: 4 out of 5

Card Discussion: Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Twilight

Translated Effects
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by having an equal number of LIGHT and DARK monsters in your Graveyard and banishing all monsters of 1 of those Attributes from your Graveyard, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. While face-up on the field, this card is also LIGHT-Attribute.
When this card is Special Summoned: You can activate 1 of these effects, depending on the Attribute of the monster(s) banished for its Special Summon. You cannot conduct your Battle Phase during the turn you activate this effect. ● LIGHT: Banish 1 monster on the field, face-up. ● DARK: Banish 1 random card from your opponent's hand, face-down, until your opponent's End Phase.
There's a new Black Luster Soldier in town and he is Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Twilight!  This new card's artwork is amazing. It looks like a true boss monster. Unfortunately, this card is very disappointing. Its skills are very useless. First, the summoning conditions are very difficult to meet. Secondly, the new Black Luster Soldier is unable to attack when he activates his skills.

Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Twilight is very difficult to summon. You must have the same number of Light and Dark monsters in the graveyard for the special summon. That is a very annoying condition to meet. On the other hand Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of The Beginning is much easier to summon because he only requires one Light and Dark monster regardless of how many Light and Dark monsters are in the graveyard.

The Light skill is the same as Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of The Beginning's skill. You can banish an opponent's monster, but neither Black Luster Soldier is unable to attack this turn. It's a very balanced skill.

Furthermore, the Dark effect is very bad. There is no logical reason to activate such a terrible ability. The opponent's card will be banished until the end of his or her next end phase. However, you are unable to attack after using this skill. This effect does not give the player an advantage. The opponent will get the card back, and you're unable to attack.

Finally, Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of The Beginning is able to attack twice per turn if his first attack is successful. Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of The Twilight lacks this ability or any powerful offensive skills. It's only impressive offensive quality is its 3,000 attack points.

In conclusion, Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of The Beginning is the far superior card. I do not expect many players to run Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of The Twilight in their decks. The summoning conditions are too difficult to meet. His Dark skill is a disgrace. Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of The Twilight is truly a lack luster card.

Unit of The Week: White Lily Musketeer, Cecilia

Now, for the prayer of life! Blessed Reincarnation!
[ACT](VC) Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage):[Counter Blast(1) & Choose five normal units with "Musketeer" in its card name from your drop zone, and put the chosen cards on the bottom of your deck in any order] Search your deck for up to two cards named "White Lily Musketeer, Cecilia", call them to separate (RC), and shuffle your deck. This ability cannot be used for the rest of that turn.
[ACT](VC):[Choose one of your rear-guards with "Musketeer" in its card name, and retire it] Look at up to five cards from the top of your deck, search for up to one card with "Musketeer" in its card name from among them, call it to (RC), and shuffle your deck. This ability cannot be used for the rest of that turn.
This week's unit of the week is none other than White Lilly Musketeer, Cecilia! She is ranked in the 5 top of the Musketeer Crops. Her sword shall purify anyone who defies her lord or her pride! How did I overlook this card for my sexiest vanguard cards list? White Lily Musketeer, Cecilia's artwork is so beautiful! Brunettes are always the best!

However, don't be fooled by Cecilia's looks. Cecilia's limit break is not to be underestimated. She recycles copies of herself to the rear guard. Opponents can retire the copies, but they will return. Cecilia can return copies of herself to the deck and then superior call them to the rear guard thus, giving Cecilia an unlimited amount of copies.
Furthermore, her second skill can search for power cards such as Dandelion Musketeer, Mirkka, Black Lily Musketeer, Hermann, and CherryBlossom Musketeer, Augusto. One of the superior called Cecilia clones can be returned to the drop zone to search for a more powerful front row rear guard unit. Augusto is the best front row option with his offensive skill and his defensive intercept. Mirkka should be called behind Cecilia to boost Cecilia to 19,000 power.

In Conclusion, Cecilia is a very powerful card if used correctly. Her Limit Break ability is very powerful and deadly. Combined her first and second skills recycle offensive and defensive rear guard units. Now that's what I call environmental justice!

Card Fighter Spotlight: Toshiki Kai

Toshiki Kai is considered by fans to be the best player in the anime. Cool, Calm, and Confident Kai will best any opponent who stands in his way of victory! Kai's overall record is 25-2. His only loses were against Ren and Leon who both cheated by using Psy Quila. To many his record maybe considered to be 25-0 or 27-0(two wins are given to him because of cheating).

Kai prefers to play clans that can control the field. Kagero has a line of units that have the ability to retire opponents' rear guard units. On the other Narukami focuses on controlling the field during the late game. Dragonic Kaiser Vermillion attacks the entire front row which prevents and most likely retire potential intercepting units.

Furthermore, Kai has mastered some of the most difficult cards to play. His season one avatar is Dragonic Overlord. A good player mus know when to use Dragonic Overlord's skill. Furthermore, Kai started to use Dragonic Overlord's skill as a rear guard unit to retain twin drive. At the first National Championship Kai used Dragonic Overlord's skill to crush Kyou. Kai timed Dragonic Overlord's skill perfectly. He was able to set up himself up to use the skill twice before Kyou realized what Kai did. Kyou was able to defend himself against the Dragonic Overlord's first attack. However, due to a heal trigger Kai was prepared to use the skill during his deck turn. Kyou did not have any defensive options to protect his rear guard and vanguard thus losing the game.

Finally, Toshiki Kai's most impressive skill is his knowledge of the game. Unlike most players, Kai knows every units' skill and clans' theme. Due to this advantage he is able to disrupt his opponent's offensive and defensive strategies. This advantage also helps him stay calm in card fights. During Kai's battle with Mutsuki, Mutsuki returned Edel Rose to the deck hoping that Kai would believe that he only had one copy. However, Kai knew Mutsuki's strategy because Mutsuki needed Edel Rose. Kai saved a perfect guard because he knew Mutsuki had another copy of Edel Rose. This proves that Kai knows what his opponents are going to throw at him.

In conclusion, Toshiki Kai is undoubtedly the best player in the anime. There is no player in the anime who comes close to Kai's level! He has mastered the Kagero and Narukai clans. Toshiki Kai is a bad man! He defeats his opponents in pure domination. Now witness true vanguard!

News: Link Joker and Lock Mechanic Revealed!

The news we have been waiting for is finally here! A new clan has invaded the planet Cray! Link Joker is a powerful new clan whose theme is to "lock" units. Link Joker units have the new Lock mechanic. The "Lock" mechanic forces opponents to turn their rear guard units face down until the end of the locked cards owner's turn. Locked units are not treated as rear-guard units. In addition locked units cannot be retired by opponents and the locked cards' owner. Thus, the locked cards' owner cannot retire and replace the locked units with new units. Lock is a very powerful offensive and defensive advantage. This will interfer with opponents' strategies. Opponents will not be able to use their intercepts and will lack offensive options. Clans that focus on rear guard support will be at a major disadvantage. Link Joker will be a very competitive clan. Watch Link Joker's debut in the next exciting episode of Cardfight!! Vanguard!

Star-vader, Dust Tail Unicorn

[AUTO]: Forerunner (When a unit of the same clan rides this unit, you may call this unit to (RC))
[ACT](RC):[Counter Blast (1) & Put this unit into your soul] If you have a «Link Joker» vanguard, and your opponent has a unit locked, you may pay the cost. If you do, choose one of your opponent's rear-guards, and lock it. (Locked cards are turned face down. Turn them face up at the end of the owner's turn)

Star-vader, Mobius Breath Dragon

[AUTO](VC):When this unit's attack hits a vanguard, choose one of your opponent's rear-guards, and lock it. (Locked cards are turned face down. Turn them face up at the end of the owner's turn)

Star-vader, Dark Band Dragon

[ACT](VC) Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage):[Counter Blast (1) - Cards with Star-vader in its card name] Choose one of your opponent's rear-guard in the back row, and lock it.
[AUTO](VC):When this unit attacks, if the number of rear-guards you have is more than your opponent's, this unit gets [Power]+3000 until end of that battle.

Star-vader, Infinite Zero Dragon

[AUTO] Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage):When a «Link Joker» rides this unit, choose one of your opponent's rear-guards in the front row and one of your opponent's rear-guards in the back row, lock them, choose one of your vanguards, and that unit gets [Power]+10000 until end of turn. (Locked cards are turned face down. Turn them face up at the end of the owner's turn)
[AUTO](VC):When this unit attacks a vanguard, this unit gets [Power]+2000 until end of that battle. [CONT](VC/RC): Lord (If you have a unit without a same clan as this unit, this unit cannot attack)

Star-vader, Nebula Lord Dragon

Unit of The Week: Battle Sister, Cookie

She's soft on people, but tough on crime. It's because she's a Battle Sister.
[AUTO](VC) Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage):When this unit attacks a vanguard, this unit gets [Power]+5000 until end of that battle.
[AUTO]:[Counter Blast (2)] When this unit is placed on (VC), you may pay the cost. If you do, draw two cards, choose a card from your hand, and discard it.
Yummy! Cookies are so tasty with cream! Battle Sister, Cookie is a very sweat, but tough cookie! Battle Sister, Cookie is a pretty good limit break skill that grants her an additional 5,000 power when attacking. Cookie can gain additional power when boosted by Battle Sister, Cream to form the Cookies and Cream combo! Cookie will receive 11,000 power when boosted by Cream. This will give Cookie a total of 26,000 power as the vanguard. Her ride skill is very useful. You can draw two cards and discard an unneeded card. You can either add more defense or offense to your hand. Overall she is a well balanced card that can fit into any Oracle Think Tank build because her skills are not limited to the Battle Sisters series.

Duelist Spotlight: Seto Kaiba

Today's Duelist Spotlight focuses on the former World Champion Seto Kaiba. Kaiba is the proud owner of Kaiba Corp. He is famous for being Yugi's fiercest rival. Kaiba's signature card is the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. He owns three of the four copies in the world!

Kaiba's decks primary focus is summoning the Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.
They were some of the most powerful and rare cards during this time. He uses cards such as Lord of Dragons, Flute of Summoning Dragon, and Kaiser Sea Horse to quickly special summon his Blue-Eyes White Dragons.

Kaiba destroys his opponent's decks with the Crush Card Virus trap card. This must be the most expensive card in the anime series because Kaiba is the only player who has played this card in the entire Yu-Gi-Oh! series. Victory is nearly guaranteed when this card is successfully played. Opponent's decks would be greatly weakened with their strongest monsters in the grave yard. Opponents would have to strongly rely on combinations with weak monsters, spells, and traps.

Most notably is Kaiba's extra deck. He is one of the few original series characters to regularly use many fusion monsters. His extra deck introduced the XYZ (not the monster type) arch-type. They are a group of machine type monsters that combine into powerful fusion monsters. Kaiba's most famous fusion monster is none other then the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.

During Battle City, Kaiba received Obelisk the Tormentor. However, Obelisk the Tormentor is not an easy monster to control or summon. Obelisk requires three tributes to summon. He had to learn new tactics to easily summon Obelisk. He would special summon three Blue-Eyes White Dragons and tribute them to special summon Obelisk the Tormentor. If he did not have enough monsters to summon Obelisk then he would use a powerful card known as Soul Exchange. Soul Exchange's anime effect is you can tribute all of your opponent's monsters to summon a monster like Obelisk the Tormentor!

Kaiba was a masterful trash talker. Trash talking may not appear to be a skill to some. However, it is a great psychological weapon. He flusters Joey into making many misplays in their duels. Sometimes he can even anger Atem during duels.

Finally, Kaiba's most notable trait is his desire to improve his deck and skills. Kaiba knows he is a great duelist. However, he knows he can become a better duelist. He spends long hours researching cards and play styles to defeat Yugi. One day his hard work may pay off to reclaim the world championship.

In Conclusion, Seto Kaiba is a cunning, fierce, intelligent, and skillful duelist. Many including myself rank Kaiba as the second best duelist in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Series! He is always one step ahead of his opponents. Most importantly Kaiba understands the game. He is always seeking improvement to one day regain the title as king of games!

Unit of The Week: Mr. Invincible

Evil will never prevail! Reward the good and punish the evil! The death blow, Hellstand!
[AUTO](VC):At the beginning of your main phase, Soul Charge (1), choose a card from your damage zone, and turn it face up.
[AUTO](VC/RC):[Soul Blast (8) & Counter Blast (5)] When this unit's attack hits, you may pay the cost. If you do, [Stand] all of your units.

Oh My God! Look at the sky! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it's Mr. Invincible to the rescue! Mr. Invincible is famous for his Hellstand. He has the special ability to stand all of your units. Mr. Invincible is an incredible unit to have in a Raizer deck. His Soul Blast can be activated as a rear guard or vanguard. This will give Perfect Raizer another attack with 2 critical damage. In addition Mr. Invincible provides infinite fuel for cards like Brutal Jack and Oasis Girl with his soul charge and unflip damage ability.
