Card Discussion: Dark Magician

The ultimate wizard in terms of attack and defense.

The Dark Magician is Yugi's favorite card. He has been by Yugi's side since the very first episode and would stay as a main card in Yugi's deck! The Dark Magician has a respectable 2,500 attack points and 2,100 defense points. He is no easy monster to take down. His 2,500 attack points are more than enough to destroy most monsters!

Furthermore, the Dark Magician started with a good supporting cast. Dark Magic Attack, Dark Magician Girl, Dark Magician of Chaos, Skilled Dark Magician, and Dark Paladin are just a few of the Dark Magician's early supporting cast. Unfortunately, Dark Magician of Chaos is currently banned. However, the majority of the Dark Magician's support is still playable.

The Dark Magician gained new and stronger support in Return of The Duelist! Dark Magician decks are faster and stronger! Temperance of Prophecy can special summon the Dark Magician from the deck much faster than the Skilled Dark Magician. Temperance of Prophecy only requires one Spellbook spell card to be activated while Skilled Dark Magician requires three spell cards to be activated.

Continually the Spellbook spell cards are a major boost to Dark Magician decks. Spellbook of Wisdom can provide protection from traps or spells. Cards like Spellbook Star Hall and Spellbook of Power can increase the Dark Magician's attack points.

In Conclusion, the Dark Magician is still a playable and useful card in the game. He has a strong supporting cast of Magicians and Spellbooks. Dark Magician! His deck can still compete today with the big dogs. Dark Magic Attack!

Unit of The Week: King of Knights, Alfred

I command you under the name of the King of Knights! Warriors, heed my call!
[CONT](VC):Your units cannot boost this unit.
[CONT](VC):During your turn, this unit gets [Power]+2000 for each of your «Royal Paladin» rear-guards.
[ACT](VC/RC):[Counter Blast (3)] Search your deck for up to one grade 2 or less «Royal Paladin», call it to (RC), and shuffle your deck.
Bow down to the king! King of Knights, Alfred is one of the most popular Royal Paladin units in the game. He is Aichi's tribute card in season 1. He is one of my only two SP cards; my other SP card is Blaster Blade. That's ironic!

Alfred is a solid 20,000 attacker unit as long as you have 5 rear guard Royal Paladin units. This makes up for his inability to be boosted. He forces the player to strongly commit to the field. This isn't a bad thing unless you're losing in card advantage. Most importantly he is attacking with stage 2 power against crossride units.

Furthermore, his second skill can be used as a vanguard or rear guard. He is able to superior call power units to give himself more power. It can be a useful combo with Blaster Blade because Blaster Blade's skill can be triggered if you still have two face up damage cards.

In conclusion, Alfred is a fine addition to Royal Paladin decks. He can perfectly fit in all Royal Paladin decks due to his powerful vanguard skill. He is a high power offensive vanguard. If you're willing to commit early to a field then he is the best choice for the deck's featured grade 3 unit.

Unit of The Week: Prowling Dragon, Striken

A Prowling Dragon waits silently, for the right time to rise to the heavens.
[CONT](VC): Restraint (This unit cannot attack.)
[AUTO](VC):When this unit is attacked, if there are no boosting units, this unit gets [Power]+5000 until end of that battle.
[AUTO]:When another «Kagero» rides this unit, choose one of your vanguards, and that unit get [Power]+5000/[Critical]+1 until end of turn.
A powerful dragon lurks among our vanguards! He is none other than Prowling Dragon, Striken! He wields power of the Kagero clan! Prowling Dragon, Striken can be seen as a break ride prototype because his second skill is given to the unit who rides above him.

Prowling Dragon, Striken is unable to attack as the vanguard. Thus, the player will minus one because he or she will not get the extra card from the drive trigger check. However, Prowling Dragon, Striken puts major mid-game pressure on opponents. His skill makes up for his inability to attack as a vanguard. The unit who rides above Striken will get 5,000 power and one critical damage.

In addition, Prowling Dragon Striken, is a good defensive unit as the vanguard. If his attacker is not boosted then he gains 5,000 power. This means that an opponent must call units to boost attacks or be unable to give damage that turn.

Furthermore, Prowling Dragon, Striken is a vanilla 10k rear guard unit. That isn't too bad. He can attack with high numbers when boosted by 7k and 8k boosters.

In Conclusion, Prowling Dragon, Striken is an interesting unit. He can work wonders in a Kagero deck. His skills can be used offensively and defensively. His skills will give a grade 3 additional power and damage. He gains power when attacked by non-boosted attackers!

TD12: Dimensional Brave Kaiser Update!

The new Dimensional Police grade 3 unit has been announced! Super Dimensional Robo, Daikaiser will be the featured card for TD: 12 Dimensional Brave Kaiser. His skills are listed below! TD 12: Dimensional Brave Kaiser is set to be released in Japan on August 9th, 2013!

[AUTO] Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage):[Counter Blast (1)] When a «Dimension Police» rides this unit, you may pay the cost. If you do, choose your vanguard, that unit gets [Power]+10000/[Critical]+1 and "[AUTO](VC):When this unit's drive check reveals a grade 3 «Dimension Police», choose one of your opponent's guardians, retire it, and any effect with "Cannot be hit" of that retired unit is negated." until end of turn.
[AUTO](VC):When this unit is boosted by a «Dimension Police», this unit gets [Power]+2000 until end of that battle.
[CONT](VC/RC): Lord (If you have a unit without a sameclan as this unit, this unit cannot attack)

Unit of The Week: Weather Girl Milk

When she forecasts sunshine, everyone carries an umbrella.
[AUTO](RC):When this unit boosts an «Oracle Think Tank» vanguard, if the number of cards in your hand is four or greater, the boosted unit gets [Power]+4000 until end of that battle.
Weather Girl, Milk is a terrible forecaster! Aren't Oracle Think Tank units supposed to  be able to see the future? She needs a new day job!

Weather Girl, Milk is one of the best boosting units for vanguards. Her best position on the field is directly behind the vanguard. She has gains 4,000 power when you have an Oracle Think Tank vanguard and 4 or more cards in your hand. Her ability can be used for any Oracle Think Tank as the vanguard. She isn't limited to any sub-groups within the clan. She is able to boost CEO Amaterasu or Goddess of Flower Divination, Sakuya to 24,000 power!

In Conclusion, Weather Girl, Milk is worthy of being in any Oracle Think Tank deck. Her skill can be used for all Oracle Think Tank sub-groups such as the Magus and Battle Sisters series.

The Top Ten Cardfight!! Vanguard Cards That Need Rare Reprints!

Do you want to make your deck nice and shiny? Are there certain cards that you wished had rare versions? Trust me, I know those feelings. Here are my top 10 cards that I want rare reprints versions of!

1. All Promo Cards

Promo cards are meant to be special! What I like about Yu-Gi-Oh! is that all of the promo cards are rare holographic cards. Every Cardfight!! Vanguard promo is a common which makes them look dull. Promo cards need to be spiced up to rare holographic cards!

2. Every Grade 1 Ride Chain Unit!

Every ride chain's Grade 0, Grade 2, and Grade 3 units are rare cards. The Grade 1 units have been left in the cold as commons. Having a complete ride chain of rare cards would be AWESOME!

3. Trigger Rare Reprints!

There are a few rare trigger cards such as Lozenge Magus and Embodiment of Spear Tahr. However, most triggers are common cards to help players make new decks. Most clans have many common triggers. It would be totally awesome to reprint rare versions of past common trigger cards!

4. Wingal

Wingal has so many common reprints. Blaster Blade's little buddy deserves a rare reprint!

5. Holy Mage, Manawydan

Holy Mage, Manawydan is a good card in a Gold Paladin deck. He can hit high numbers when boosted by an 8,000 booster!

6. Holy Zone, Penemue

Holy Zone, Penemue isn't your average especial intercept unit. She is so hot that she desires a rare reprint!

7. Demon World Castle, DonnerSchlag

This guy is creepy looking! Demon World Castle, DonnerSchlag's artwork would look more awesome as a holographic rare card.

8. Ripple Banshee

Ripple Banshee is a very good Granblue unit! Her ability can be used multiple times in a game unlike most cards with the same effect.

9. Prowling Dragon, Striken

The original break ride unit Prowling Dragon, Striken is a bad dragon! Don't be fooled with his inability to attack as a vanguard. His skill grants the cards that rises above him 5,000 power and an additional critical.

10. Weather Girl, Milk

The anime's version of Weather Girl, Milk is more than worthy of a rare reprint!

News: BT10 and BT11 release rumors.

There are many rumors and speculations about the BT10 and BT11 release dates. Both sets have completely disappeared from the official site. Many Cardfight!! Vangaurd players are worried about the sets' current status. I will be very disappointed to wait even longer to get the Jewel Knights.

It is rumored that Bushiroad has switched the released dates for BT10: Triumphant Return of The King of Knights and BT11: Seal Dragon Unleashed. The Triumphant Return of The King of Knights is now set to be released on December 13, 2013, and Seal Dragon Unleashed is now set to be released on October 25, 2013. This is a very odd move by Bushiroad.

It is also rumored that both sets will be combined into one set. Bushiroad recently announced that they want to English product to catch up to the Japanese product. Bushiroad wants sets to be released at the same time or within a reasonable time table.

Stay tuned for more developments on this matter!

Unit of The Week: Blaster Dark

Determination is the sword of darkness. Thunder forth, Blaster Dark!
[CONT](VC):If you have a card named "Blaster Javelin" in your soul, this unit gets [Power]+1000.
[AUTO]:[Counter Blast (2)] When this unit is placed on (VC), you may pay the cost. If you do, choose one of your opponent's rear-guards, and retire it.
On the King's left stands the warrior of light Blaster Blade, and on the king's right stands the warrior of darkness Blaster Dark! The darkness will conquer the light! Raise my avatar, Blaster Dark! Blaster Dark has the honor to be this week's Unit of The Week!

Blaster Dark is a respectable vanguard. With Blaster Javelin, in the soul Blaster Dark has a high early game defense. He can prevent cards like Wingal Brave from activating their on-hit skills.

Blaster Dark's down side is his second skill's limitation. Unlike Blaster Blade, Blaster Dark's second skill can only be used as the Vanguard. On the other hand Blaster Blade's retire skill can be used as a vanguard or rear guard. However, Blaster Blade's rear guard skill is limited to the opponent's front row and grade 2 and grade 3 units. Blaster Dark's lack of a rear guard skill lowers his value as a rear guard for most purposes.

However, Blaster Dark is a key unit for Majesty Lord Blaster. A good player wants Blaster Dark as a rear guard to activate Majesty Lord Blaster's skills. Blaster Dark and Blaster Blade are the fuel to Majesty Lord Blaster's ultimate powers!

In conclusion, Blaster Dark is a powerful vanguard. However, he is a very disappointing rear guard unit. As a rear guard unit, Blaster Dark is a vanilla 9000 power unit. His main purpose as a rear guard is to activate Majesty Lord Blaster's skills.
