News: New Allies Join The Fight in The Movie Collection!

The Movie Collection introduces three of our favorite DBZ characters as allies! Master Roshi, Oolong, and Yajirobe make their debuts in The Movie Collection! Master Roshi and Yajirobe were main personalities in the original Dragon Ball Z Collectible Card Game by score. I believe there is a good chance we will get a Master Roshi main personality set. He is too popular to just remain as an ally. These three new allies are really good cards in the right decks. Each one counters different main personalities by limiting or negating their strategies.

Master Roshi Scouted 

(Heroes Only): Players cannot use card effects to search a player's Life Deck.

Goku's first sensei is going teach the top decks a lesson. Captain Ginyu has finally met his match! Master Roshi's power prevents Ginyu from searching for his Ginyu Force allies! Namekian decks cannot easily search for their Dragon Balls.

Oolong Concerned 

(Heroes only):Dragon Balls lose all effects.

Players rejoice in this new day! Oolong is the perfect card to counter Namekian decks and Garlic Jr. Every Hero deck will play Oolong except for Nail and Piccolo. Who expected this cowardly pig to be so good?

Yajirobe Bundled 

(Heroes only) Players cannot use Setups unless they have performed an attack from their hand this turn.

Yajirobe is a great card if you do not play any or very few Setups in your deck. If you play Setups, then you are going to hate Yajirobe. He prevents you from playing Setups unless you performed an attack with a card from your hand. Personalty powers do not count as they are already on the field.

Unit of The Week: Spectral Duke Dragon

When a black knight's spear parts the heavens, the legend shall rise again. 
[AUTO](VC) Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage):[Counter Blast (2) & Choose three of your «Gold Paladin» rear-guards, and retire them] At the beginning of the close step of the battle that this unit attacked a vanguard, you may pay the cost. If you do, [Stand] this unit, and this unit loses "Twin Drive!!" until end of turn.
[CONT](VC):If you have a card named "Black Dragon Knight, Vortimer" in your soul, this unit gets [Power]+1000.
Spectral Duke Dragon was Ren's replacement for Shadow Paladins as it has a similar playstyle as Phantom Blaster Dragon. Ren played the golden dragon to crush Aichi in a one sided match. It is Gold Paladin's one and only ride chain. He is the most intimidating Gold Paladin units with its dark appearance in the game. Fans of the card are hoping Bushiroad will revive it in a Legion, G-Unit, or a unit with Generation Break.

Spectral Duke Dragon's Limit Break costs two counter blasts and retires three rear guards to stand Spectral Duke Dragon after he attacks a vanguard. This ability is very contradictory to Gold Paladins' theme to superior call units to gain advantage and gain power by being surrounded by allies. He is the bad boy in the clan. His Limit Break is clearly the deck's finishing play. The extra attack can add pressure during the turn you perform a Break Ride and when you are able to build his power with Triggers.

However, Spectral Duke Dragon's Limit Break's cost is extremely high especially for a skill that removes Twin Drive. At lease it is able to retain to get one drive check. The Limit Break gives up too many resources for a single attack. You can minimize the cost of retiring three units by playing units to superior call units to the field. There are not many units to help the cause because you need units with skills without a cost to use Spectral Duke Dragon's skill twice. Break ride on top of Steel Spear Liberator, Bleoberis to gain the additional power, and importantly superior call the top two units from the deck.

Overall, Spectral Duke Dragon has not aged well. He is very lackluster compared to more recent Gold Paladin decks. He really needs new support to help pay for his skill. Bushiroad can easily revive him in a Legion with a skill to remove his Limit Break's cost, but retains the loss of Twin Drive for the second attack. There is plenty of hope for fans to get the new support that they need for their decks. Many classic cards and decks have received upgrades in every G booster set. Keep hope alive for Spectral Duke Dragon!

Enter The Dead Zone

The only man to achieve immorality from the Dragon Balls is Garlic Jr. He is the only original movie character to actually appear in the anime, despite not being a character in the manga. Garlic Jr. is a psychopath with the desire to transform everyone into evil servants and rule world with pure violence. In Dead Zone, he uses the Dragon Balls to become immortal. He later returns in the Garlic Jr. Saga, and uses the  Black Water Mist to turn Earth's inhabitants into evil slaves. Both times Gohan defeated Garlic Jr. by returning him into the Dead Zone.

Garlic Jr. Crazed

Your opponent's attacks deal -2 life cards and -2 stages of damage. Whenever you raise your anger, you may capture a Dragon Ball.

Garlic Jr. Transformed
Your opponent's attacks deal +3 life cards of damage. Your Dragon Balls cannot be captured. Whenever your anger is lowered, you may capture a Dragon Ball.













Garlic Jr. is full of awesomeness. His is power level and skills are based on his first appearance in Dead Zone. He is the first non-Namekian character to have a strategy around the Dragon Balls. He requires Dragon Balls to reveal his full potential as your Main Personality. His first three levels are also very defensive. He takes less damage than normal from attacks. This makes up for his low power level. His level four protects your Dragon Balls from being captured by your opponent. He rushes to win games either by MPPV or Dragon Ball victory. Garlic Jr.'s anger either increases when a Dragon Ball is revealed as damage or captures a Dragon Ball when his anger changes.

Card Fights!

2015 marked a new era on my YouTube channel, Awesome Card Games. I am recording card fight games! You get to witness me, the best in the business in action. Three years ago I tried getting a former friend and classmate to duel me on camera when I was living on campus during my college years. He was uncomfortable with the idea. I guess he was afraid to lose to my Spellbook deck. That does not matter because I have one friend at my locals, who is cool with our matches being recorded for your entertainment. His main clans are Genesis and Kagero.

King Alfred Legion Vs. Regalia Game 1

King Alfred Legion Vs. Regalia was my first ever recorded match, and my first time playing King Alfred with Legion! It does not have Stride in it as I was focusing on Legion. The deck is very fun to play. It was my first deck and continues to be my main deck.

United Sanctuary Vs Dragon Empire Game 2

Game one was very bad as I did not draw Ezzell to set up Legion. Let's skip it and move on to game two. I stepped up my game in game two. My friend was playing his Dragonic Overlord deck.

Thavas Vs Angelica

I tested the waters with Blue Cavalry of The Divine Marine Spirits. This was my first experience playing an Aqua Force deck. Combo orientated decks are my favorite decks to play. I am currently putting my own twist in a fun Aqua Force deck. I cannot wait to test it out!

Future Card Fights!

More card fights will be shot and uploaded on my YouTube channel. I am trying to shoot a variety of games to show off as many clans and decks as possible. I wanted to shoot a few games two weeks ago, but my buddy was not able to make it to the shop. We are the only card gamers, who play Cardfight!! Vanguard at the shop. Hopefully the game will eventually pick up in the area for I can play against more players, or watch and record other players.

Unit of The Week: Divine Knight of Flashing Flame, Samuel

Descending from the skies, a flash of attacks. 
Stride (Released when both players' vanguards are grade 3 or greater!)-Stride Step-[Choose one or more cards with the sum of their grades being 3 or greater from your hand, and discard them] Stride this card on your (VC) from face down.
[AUTO](VC):[Counter Blast (2)] When this unit attacks a vanguard, if the number of cards in your opponent's damage zone is four or less, and the number of rear-guards you have is five or more, you may pay the cost. If you do, choose one of your opponent's vanguards, and deal one damage. (Perform a damage check.)
United the Royal Paladins stand, and divided they fall on the battlefield. Unity is the key to the Royal Paladins' strategy. It is their bread and butter or fried chicken and honey mustard. This is not new news for veteran players like me. We are not surprised to see Divine Knight of Flashing Flame, Samuel as another powerful card that relies on a full field. His full power is unleashed when fighting beside his brothers and sisters.

Divine Knight of Flashing Flame, Samuel's attack automatically damages an opponent when you have a full field of rear-guards and your opponent has four or less damage. He is the third unit in the game with this unique ability. You have some control over your opponent's damage. The triple drive check makes him even more dangerous. If he is able to overcome your opponent's shield, then the game is in your hands. However, Heal Triggers can save your opponent unless you have five damage.

Furthermore, you want to superior call units without using your counter blasts or use them as little as possible as Samuel's skill costs two counter blasts. Conserving your counter blasts can give you two opportunities to play Samuel. Ezzell and Alfred can easily superior call up to three units with a single skill. Knight of Twin Sword superior calls a unit during battle for one counter blast. Full sets of Holy Knight Guardian and Knight of Fragment are highly recommended to consistently flip damage face-up.

However, Samuel and the Royal Paladins can be declawed. Mass retirement can slow down the deck to a certain degree. It will force the player to commit more his or her hand than normal to call units. Over commitment will leave him or her wide open without being able to defend the vanguard. Samuel is useless without a full field. The threat of him forcing damage is avoided. Another G-unit will be used to stride or the normal vanguard or vanguards will take over the battle phrase.

Overall, Divine Knight of Flashing Flame, Samuel is a very good unit to pressure your opponent during your final turn. He is at his best when your opponent is too low on cards to block all of your attacks. Break through the defense with a full assault! The automatic damage is a major changer to prevent your opponent at four from just taking one damage and block your remaining attacks to stay in the game. United the Royal Paladins stand under Divine Knight of Flashing Flame, Samuel's leadership as the vanguard!

Turles Enters The Ring

Turles makes his return in DBZ CCG in The Movie Collection! He is the seventh Saiyan main personality and is the fifth strongest on the power level scale. Saiyans are loaded with many options. There are three heroes and four villains under the archetype. Which side will you choose? I'm still building Future Trunks at the moment.

Turles Shadowy
Power: Your Styled attacks deal +2 stages of damage and cannot have their damage prevented.

Turles Watchful
Power: Energy attack costing 2 stages. Damage: 5 stages. Damage from this attack cannot be prevented. HIT: Your opponent pays 3 stages or you may raise your anger 2 levels and use a critical damage effect.
Turles Triumphant
Power: Power: Banish the top 3 cards of your opponent's discard pile. Your attacks deal +3 stages of damage and cannot have their damage prevented.
Turles Conquering
Power: Physical attack. Damage: X stages and X life cards. X=the number of power stages of your opponent's MP is above 0. Endurance cannot be usethis turn.













Turles is one of the most interesting main personalities. He shut downs Endurance. You either stop his attacks or take full damage without any mercy. His strategy is to quickly overwhelm an opponent and empty the Life Deck. His level one and level three cards increase the amount of damage from attacks. Levels two and four are attacks. If your opponent's MP's power stage is very high, then he or she is going to take a lot of damage from Turles Conquering. He is a good main personality to play besides Captain Ginyu and Piccolo.

Konami Needs To Step Up Its Game

Konami is not known for being the best company in trading card games. It has a bad relationship with its players. The company is very lucky to have a very popular trading card game that lives off of its charm and originality. Konami's biggest problems are bad special editions, meaningless tournaments, and its lack of interaction with players. These problems have put a sour taste in many players' mouths. It is time for these old problems to be resolved for the game's future.

Improve Special Editions

Special editions' quality has been on the decline. Konami's choices for the reprints in recent years have left more to be desired. Number 30: Acid Golem of Destruction was a joke of a reprint in Return of the Duelist's special edition. Players want good cards instead of mediocre cards that nobody will play in competitive decks. Cards such as High Priestess of Prophecy, Ritual Beast Ulti-Apelio and El Shaddoll Construct should be reprints in special editions. This problem can easily be resolved by allowing players to vote for the promo cards. Players would choose the best and most popular cards in the game. We could finally get the cards that we want to play in our decks.

Cash Prizes

There are not many incentives to attend an YCS. The prizes are very lackluster. A large card and trophy are not much to offer players for winning an YCS. Prize support has been a joke for years. Prizes are less valuable than planet tickets to get to and from events.  It is time for Konami is start giving cash prices to players. The recently revived Dragon Ball Z Collectible Card Game is giving away cash prizes from the opening gate. If a new game can give cash prizes, then surely Konami can do the same for Yu-Gi-Oh! Champions. More players would attend events if Konami offered cash prizes. It would be a Yugi revolution.

Allow Players To Comment on YouTube Videos

Viewers do not have permission to comment on the videos from the official Yu-Gi-Oh! channel on YouTube. Konami is clearly afraid of the negative comments that players will leave on their videos. It just shows us how little Konami thinks about its players. If Konami was doing a better job, then they would have little to worry about in the comments section. Magic the Gathering allows viewers to comment on their videos. This is how Magic builds a good community on its YouTube channel. It encourages players to interact with each other.

The Final Word

There is no hype in this game outside of popular releases. The cards are keeping the game alive at a very popular level. However, Yu-Gi-Oh! can be so much more if Konami puts any effort into building a strong competitive scene. It is time for Konami to step up its game. These problems have been around since the early days. Konami listen to the players and fix the game's problems instead of turning a blind eye.

Unit of The Week: Blue Storm Marine Generals Ianis and Zaharias

I shall now break through the enemy's camp. Follow me! 
[ACT](VC): Legion20000 "Blue Storm Marine General, Ianis" (If your opponent's vanguard is grade 3 or greater, this unit may return four cards from your drop zone into your deck once, search your deck for the specified card, and Legion)
[AUTO](VC):[Counter Blast (1)] When this unit's drive check reveals a card with the same card name as a unit on your (VC), if this unit is Legion, you may pay the cost. If you do, choose up to two of your rear-guards, [Stand] them, and those units get [Power]+5000 until end of turn.
[ACT](VC):[Counter Blast (1)] This unit gets [Power]+2000 until end of turn.
Aqua Force has three pairs of Legions. Each one has its unique abilities based on attack order or standing units back up. Blue Storm Marine Generals Ianis and Zaharias are one of these pairs. Both cards are very easy to pull in booster packs as both are rares, and Zaharias is very cheap to buy. Ianis is a bit pricier because of its skill can be used without Zaharias.

Zaharias's Legion skill stands up two rear-guards with a 5K power bonus to both units when your drive check reveals him or Ianis. The skill does not require a particular attack order unlike many Aqua Force vanguards, but Zaharias's Legion attack is best suited for the final attack of the turn. It opens up the possibility of getting a double persona check to stand up both rear-guard columns for two more attacks at full force.

However, Zaharias is not consistent because of his skill's requirements. If you are not able to activate the Legion skill, then you are in a bad situation. Your deck will be doing nothing during the mid-game. The rear-guards will be doing all of the work to get extra attacks. At this stage you must be ride a new vanguard to make up for lost time.

Next, let's take a look at Blue Storm Marine General, Ianis. You can draw a card when his attack hits a vanguard if it is the third or more battle in the turn. That is a lot of pressure on your opponent. The extra card is very beneficial for Aqua Force decks. Adding cards to your hand by effect is amazing for clan with problems in hand size. Setting his attack as the third attack is very easy. Ianis has amazing chemistry with Tidal Assault and Magnum Assault. Attack your opponent with Tidal Assault or Magnum Assault first and second to set up Ianis for the third attack. However, this is not an ideal strategy because you need Ianis in the deck for the Legion skill. Calling him instead of using him as a shield puts you at a disadvantage. You can always ride another Zaharias and perform Legion to put Ianis back into the deck.

Overall, Blue Storm Marine Generals Ianis and Zaharias can be a great pair when momentum is in their favor. The persona drive check is a great skill to get extra attacks. You rear-guards also get a nice power boost as well. That's just insult to injury. Unfortunately, inconsistency is their greatest flaw, and is needed to keep them balance. Zaharias cannot function without persona drive checks. Ianis is not ideal to have on the field because you need him in the deck for the persona drive check. Calling him to the field will decrease the probability of revealing a copy during the drive check. If you are considering playing an Aqua Force to try out the clan, then pick up Ianis and Zaharias. The Blue Storm Marine Generals are a fun dynamic duo when they have the momentum.

Extra Booster Set Review: Cosmic Roar


Last week I finally got my hands on an extra booster box of Cosmic Roar and opened the box today. This is Dimension Police's first extra booster set. Cosmic Roar includes 35 new cards. It features cards with Generation Beak, Legion, and Stride.Dimension Police plays very fast to quickly overwhelm your opponents. Vanguards gather a lot of power and criticals from multiple skills from themselves and rear-guards.

The New Heroes!

Cosmic Heroes are the newest archetype in the Dimension Police clan. They focus on building the vanguard's power to trigger skills. There are a few units that allow you to also give power boosts to rear-guards. These cards are also generic so they can be added to decks such as Dimensional Robos and Metalborgs. Cosmic Hero, Grandrope is a Stride enabler, and Cosmic Hero, Grandguard is Dimension Police's new perfect guard.


Stride!

Dimensional Police pretty much copied DBZ CCG's quote to hit hard and hit often. Super Cosmic Hero, X-falcon and Super Cosmic Hero, X-tiger are designed to quickly win games. Either your opponents block your vanguard's attack with a perfect guard or they will be booted out of the tournament! There is also Dark Superhuman, Omega. It clearly fits into Zeal with its ability to decrease your opponent's vanguard's power.






Retro Support!

Enigmans, Metalborgs, Super Dimensional Robos, and Zeal were not left out in the cold. Enigmans and Zeal have new grade 3 bosses. Super Dimensional Robos' support is new rear-guards to power up their already high-powered vanguards. Metalborg, Barrengrader searches for a vanguard with the ability to use Legion and superior rides it.

The Final Word

I'm totally impressed with what Cosmic Roar has the offer. There are a lot of very good cards in the set. I pulled a SP, RRR, and three RR cards in a single box. It was loaded with goodies to build an all-star deck. It has a little of everything for Dimension Police players. If you play Cosmic Heroes, Enigmans, Metalborgs, Super Dimensional Robos, or Zeal, then there are new cards for your deck. Cosmic Roar sets a new standard for extra booster sets. More extra booster sets based on one clan need to give new support to every archetype. Get your hands on this set to unleash justice!

Capcom Reveals Mega Man Legacy Collection


Capcom has finally announced a new MegaMan game. Mega Man Legacy Collection is a bundle with many games and special features. This legendary collection includes the first six MegaMan games on the NES, a challenge mode, replay mode, and a museum of artwork. MegaMan one through six's 8-bit graphics are now in HD. Mega Man Legacy Collection will be released this summer on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It will be released on the 3DS this winter.

The Final Word

I'm glad MegaMan has been in positive news since last week. Collections are always nice to have and I finally have a reason to buy a Nintendo 3DS. A brand new game in the series would have been better. Maybe one day we will finally see the Classic series connect to the X series in one grand finale. Let's hope this game stays on track for this summer.

Unit of The Week: Purgation Lion Emperor, Mithril Ezel

[ACT](VC)[1/Turn]:[Counter Blast (1) & Choose a face down card named "Purgation Lion Emperor, Mithril Ezel" from your G zone, and turn it face up] If you have a heart card with "Ezel" in its card name, unlock all of your locked cards, look at five cards from the top of your deck, search for up to one card from among them, call it to (RC), shuffle your deck, and increase that unit and this unit's [Power] by the original [Power] of the unit called with this effect until end of turn.
Ezel is the face of the Gold Paladins just like Blaster Blade is the face of the Royal Paladins. This timeless warrior fought with intensity to save his friends from the Void on two occasions. The first war was a rescue mission to free the Royal Paladins from the Void. The second war was directly against Link Joker. Ezel finally broke Link Joker's lock over Cray! He makes his debut in Cardfight!! Vanguard G as a G-Unit! I was expecting a Legion rival, but this is more awesome! Ezel is now in the Generation Zone.

Purgation Lion Emperor, Mithril Ezel gives you a lot of advantages in a single skill. He breaks the spell just like Salvation Lion, Grand Ezel Scissors and superior calls a unit just like Blond Ezel. His skill unlocks every locked unit on the field in an instant and superior calls one of the top five cards from the top of the deck. His and the unit's power are increased by the original power of the unit that was superior called.  The superior call is not too random as you get plenty of options to choose the best unit for your formation.

This G-unit paired with Salvation Lion, Grand Ezel Scissors is fantastic against Star-vaders. Lock will only be a minor setback in the early game. You will be constantly breaking the locks every turn as the skills are very cheap. Your formation will never be interrupted and free to launch a full assault. Players with Star-vader, "Omega" Glendios will be forced abandon their strategy to obtain an instant victory with "Omega" Glendios's Ultimate Break.

Finally, Incandescent Lion, Blond Ezel and Blazing Lion, Platina Ezel are decent backups for your third vanguard. They are not the same level as Grand Ezel Scissors. However, the fulfill Mithril Ezel's requirements to active his skill. Do not bother using their skills. Save the Counter Blasts for Grand Ezel Scissor's Limit Break, Holly Dispel Scissors to finish off your opponent.

Overall, Ezel's rival in a form of a G-Unit puts the deck on the new level. He makes the almighty Link Joker looks like a child, who cannot get his piece of candy. Mithril Ezel is still a great card to play even if your opponent is not Link Joker because of the intense power boost the second part of the skill gives to Ezel and the superior called unit. Grand Ezel Scissors provides a nice finisher with a lot of pressure for the final turn. The legend of Ezel continues in the Generation Zone!

New MegaMan Anime Series Set For 2017


MegaMan is returning to TV! Japanese company Dentsu Entertainment will produce the new MegaMan animated series. Man of Action Entertainment will help write and produce the series. The studio is famous for producing Ben 10, Ultimate Spider Man and Marvel's Avengers Assemble! Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau and Steven T. Seagle will write and produce 26 episodes for the first season. The television network to host the series has not yet been announced. The show will in 2017 to celebrate the franchise's 30th anniversary!

The first MegaMan animated series was produced by Ruby Spears in 1994. That series had 27 episodes in its two seasons. The franchise's last anime series was RockMan.EXE also known as MegaMan NT Warrior. It was a huge success just like the MegaMan Battle Network series. The series had 209 episodes in six seasons.

This is simply fantastic news for the franchise. If the new animated series is a success, then its success can influence Capcom to make new MegaMan games. This is the best news for MegaMan fans in a very long time! I hope the series will also feature ProtoMan, Bass, and King!
