Even so, a failure is still a failure.
[ACT](VC):Legion20000 "Steam Knight, Xang" (If your opponent's vanguard is grade 3 or greater, this unit may return four cards from your drop zone into your deck once, search your deck for the specified card, and Legion)
Nixie Number Dragon is Gear Chronicle's first Legion unit. He is a rare card from Soaring Ascent of Gale & Blossom. His mate is Steam Knight, Xang. Nixie Number Dragon is known for his manipulation of Time Engines and has the ability to use spacetime energy. His claws have strange properties with time. Enemies fear they can be sent to an unknown dimension by touching his claws.
[AUTO](VC):When your opponent's rear-guard is put into his or her deck due to an effect from one of your cards, if this unit is Legion, until end of turn, this unit gets "[AUTO](VC):When this unit attacks a vanguard, until end of that battle, your opponent cannot call grade 1 or greater cards from hand to (GC).".
[AUTO](VC):When this unit attacks a vanguard, if you have another unit in your middle column, this unit gets [Power]+3000 until end of that battle.
Nixie Number Dragon's Legion skill prevents your opponent from guarding with grade one or great cards from his or her hand. His skill can only be activated after you use an effect to return one of your opponent's rear-guards to their deck. A high-powered Legion attack is difficult to block without a perfect guard. Nixie Number Dragon's second skill gives 3,000 power to him when he has another unit in his middle column. This power boost only adds fuel to the fire! Your opponent will be forced to guard his or her vanguard with at least three cards to block the attack.
Furthermore, Nixie Number Dragon greatly depends on his supporting cast to trigger his Legion skill. His mate Steam Knight, Xang can get the job done when his attack hits a vanguard as he is able to send an opposing rear-guard to the bottom of the deck. Gear Chronicle does not have enough support for Legion to play Nixie Number Dragon's without units with Generation Break. You are going to need to play grade 2 units with Generation Break skills that send your opponent's rear-guards to the deck. Steam Fighter, Amber's Generation Break skill sends an opponent's grade 2 or lower rear-guard to the bottom of the deck. His skill only requires him to attack a vanguard and get a boost from a rear-guard. You can activate it every turn after you have established Generation Break.
You may as well play a full Generation Break deck with Chronojet Dragon instead of Nixie Number Dragon's messy deck. You still need to Stride in order to set up Nixie Number Dragon's Legion skill as he does not have enough support to play him without Generation Break. Chronojet Dragon also has the ability of preventing your opponent from guarding with grade one and greater cards. Chronojet Dragon's Generation Break will stay activate for the remainder of the game. The deck is just faster and more consistent than the Legion version. Nixie Number Dragon's skill requires you to meet its conditions every turn.
Overall, Nixie Number Dragon is a nice alternative for playing Gear Chronicle in a deck with Legion. His Legion skill is very good. He just needs help from his allies to meet its requirements to activate in battle. Unfortunately, the deck still heavily depends on Generation Break and Stride. I would rather play a Chronojet Dragon deck over Nixie Number Dragon at the moment. Chronojet Dragon's deck is far more consistent with the same results from my grade 3 vanguard. It can become a better card in the future. Nixie Number Dragon needs more support for Legion to be a consistent threat.
