Unit of The Week: Holy Dragon, Sanctuary Guard Regalie

The dragon that protects the sanctuary, knows the power of a little courage. 
[Stride] (Released when both players' vanguards are grade 3 or greater!)-Stride Step-[Choose one or more cards with the sum of their grades being 3 or greater from your hand, and discard them] Stride this card on your (VC) from face down.
[CONT](VC):During your turn, if you have a heart card with "Sanctuary Guard" in its card name, all of the units in your front row get [Power]+3000 for each of your grade 1 or less rear-guards.
Holy Dragon, Sanctuary Guard Regalie has major importance in the history of Cardfight!! Vanguard. He created a nation for dragons and humans to live in peace. This nation was most likely the United Sanctuary. However, an unknown dragon divided the eastern part of the nation into the Dragon Empire. Some dragons such as Soul Savior Dragon and the Sanctuary Guard Dragons continued to live in peace with humans. Can you imagine Dragonic Overlord as a Royal Paladin and Blaster Blade's Legion Leader? That would be amazing! I hope Bushiroad develop cards from an alternate timeline with this type of scenario.

Holy Dragon, Sanctuary Guard Regalie's Generation Break becomes online when your heart has Sanctuary Guard in its name and all of your units in the front row gain 3,000 power for each grade one or less rear-guard.  Your units in the front row can gain as much as 15,000 power if you have five grade one or less rear-guards. The only grade zero rear-guard should be your starting vanguard. A formation with only grade one or less units will gains a total of 45,000 power. Holy Dragon, Sanctuary Guard Regalie's power will rise above 40,000!

Furthermore, Holy Dragon, Sanctuary Guard Regalie's skill rewards you for gathering as many grade one units as possible in your formation. Royal Paladins gain benefits from having many allies on the field together. Sanctuary Guard's theme is gaining power for every grade one or less units on your field. There are many cards to use to help build your formation and gain advantage with your skills. Good cards reward you for playing a clan's mechanic to the fullest potential.

Finally, Sanctuary Guard has a good amount of support. Battle Flag Knight, Constance superior calls a grade one or less rear-guard from your deck. Superior call Hidden Sage, Miron with Constance's skill to use her skill to soul blast and draw a card! Knight of Twin Sword is an awesome grade two unit to play in this deck. He can superior call a fresh grade two unit from your deck for an extra deck. Your new unit does not need a boost because it will gain power from Holy Dragon, Sanctuary Guard Regalie's skill!

Overall, Holy Dragon, Sanctuary Guard Regalie is a fantastic G-unit in Sanctuary Guard decks. It maintains the archetype's theme of gaining power by having many grade one or less units on your field. Your formation gains 45,000 power if every rear-guard is grade one or less. Holy Dragon, Sanctuary Guard Regalie's power easily rises above 40,000 before receiving a boost from a rear-guard. Protect the United Sanctuary with Holy Dragon, Sanctuary Guard Regalie!

Locals Report: First Local Tournament

Last Saturday I attended my first every tournament. My local shop hosted a Cardfight!! Vanguard tournament. We finally have a group of players to build a local community for Cardfight!! Vanguard. There were only five players. One player received a first round bye, and this was determined by rolling a dice. The player with the high roll earned the first bye. I played my Gold Paladin deck with Sunrise Ray Knight, Gurguit. The deck is not complete, but has more than enough power to win games. I had a few decks with my, but I decided to stay with Gurguit.

I split a box of Fighter's Collection 2016 with a friend before the tournament started. I wanted to add G Guardians to my Gold Paladin deck. I pulled Sacred Heaven Prayer Master, Reia and Dark Element, Dizmel. Both G Guardians were quickly added to my extra deck! My first round opponent gave his copy of Sacred Heaven Prayer Master, Reia to me. That's a nice guy!

Round One

Wins: 1

Loses: 2

My first opponent was William. He played as Dragonic Overlord "The Legend" deck with minor modifications. The first two games were extremely close. He won the first game. Watch it in the video above this paragraph. The first two games are two of the best games that I ever played. I wished I recorded the second game because Gurguit's Generation Break saved the match and I was able to pull out a tight win in game two. The third game failed to meet the hype. I lost early in the game because my opponent stacked three critical triggers.

Round Two

Second Round Bye

I got lucky and received a bye in the second round. My previous opponent swept his next opponent. His opponent played a Megacolony deck. Dragonic Overlord "The Legend" burned the insects from the nation of Zoo. The other match featured Bermuda Triangle and Dark Irregulars. Conner played a Duo deck with Duo True Sister, Meer and George played a Dark Irregular deck with Scharhrot Vampir! Duo True Sister, Meer defeated Scharhrot Vampir in two straight games.

Round Three

Wins: 2

Loses: 0

My buddy George played his Dark Irregulars deck at the tournament. We clashed in the third and final round. I won the match with a clean sweep! The first match was fairly easy. I drew all four of my Perfect Guards by the mid-game with the help from my Draw Trigger. His vanguard did not have a chance in hitting Sunrise Ray Knight, Gurguit. My Gold Paladins united the Special Forces to dominate the Dark Irregulars. The second victory was pure luck. I was grade locked up to grade two and pulled out the victory!

The undefeated Dragonic Overlord "The Legend" battled against the also undefeated Duo True Sister, Meer! Dragonic Overlord "the Legend" won the championship match in a clean sweep. Only my Gold Paladin deck won one game against the champion.

The Final Word

This tournament opened my eyes to two major factors. First I greatly underestimated how good my Gold Paladin deck is and secondly, defense is far better in Cardfight!! Vanguard since the release of the G Guardians. Almost all of my matches lasted for nearly 20 minutes. I am proud of my Gold Paladins. They fought valiantly in both matches. My record for matches was one out of two. My record for games was three out of five. I am disappointed that I did not win, but I still had fun.

Unit of The Week: Vampire Princess of Night Fog, Nightrose

The bloodstained moon rises. It is the night of the vampire princess. 
[AUTO](VC)[1/Turn] Generation Break 2 (This ability is active if you have two or more face up G units in total on your (VC) or G zone):[Put three cards from the top of your deck into the drop zone] When your rear-guard is put into the drop zone, you may pay the cost. If you do, you may call that card to (RC).
[AUTO](VC):[Counter Blast (1)] During your turn, when your G unit Stride, you may pay the cost. If you do, choose up to one card from your drop zone, call it to (RC), and that unit gets [Power]+2000 until end of turn.
Vampire Princess of Night Fog, Nightrose is the princess of the undead pirates. This female vampire does not attack enemies by biting them in in their necks. She uses her sword to dominate the opposition. She will make the dead rise to fight in her honor. Am Chouno plays her in Cardfight!! Vanguard G Stride Gate. She is the featured unit in Granblue's first trial deck.

Nightrose's Generation Break has a variety of uses throughout a turn's progression. It can only be activated once per turn. You may pay the skill's cost of sending three cards from the deck to the drop zone and superior call a rear-guard when it is placed into the drop zone. This skill is made to work with the new Hollow ability. Hollow is online when a Granblue unit is called from the drop zone and units can various abilities when Hollow is active. Hollow units retire at the end of the turn, but Nightrose can return one to the field.  Do not overuse this skill. You risk the potential of emptying your deck. You can easily lose by decking out your deck if you are not careful with the skill.

Nightrose's Generation Break is also useful for reviving fallen allies during your opponent's turn. Nightrose's skill can be activated during either player's turn. Your opponent may retire an unit from your field, but you can counter your opponent by reviving the unit. This skill is decent against Kagero and Narukami. It can also be used if your opponent attacked a rear-guard because it was forced to the drop zone.

Stride Bonus skill superior calls one card from your drop zone to a rear-guard circle and the unit gains 2,000 power. Calling Skeleton Underling Pirate from the drop zone will give 5,000 to him and all skills make him a 16k attacker. Superior call Pirate Swordsman, Colombard from the drop zone and Colombard's skill superior calls another unit from your drop zone. You can use this combo to get an extra attack. Ruin Shade is also another good target for the skill. Her skill gives 2,000 to her when she attacks.

Overall, Vampire Princess of Night Fog, Nightrose deserves her title of the Granblue princess. Her skills work in perfect harmony with Granblue's best cards. I like how retro cards can benefit from her skills. Units with Hollow can be at their fullest potential. Granblue has become a much better clan since Nightrose was released in English. The Vampire Princess of Night Fog, Nightrose commands the dead to rise again and conquer the seven seas!

The Original Yu-Gi-Oh! Series Will Always Be The Best TCG Anime

The original Yu-Gi-Oh! series is one of my favorite animated series. It is high on my list with MegaMan NT Warrior and DragonBall Z. Yugi and his friends are always on an exciting adventure. They are either in a major tournament or dueling to save the world against a nearly unstoppable enemy. Most of the duels are very exciting to watch. I continue to watch duels with Kaiba, Yugi, and Darts. No other anime on a trading card game has been able to reach the same success. Cardfight!! Vanguard does not have the same charm as Yu-Gi-Oh! The original Yu-Gi-Oh! series is in its special place in the history of trading card games. Many players including myself started playing trading card games because of Yu-Gi-Oh!

It's Time To Duel

Yu-Gi-Oh! was the first anime to have a unique type of fight. DragonBall Z and Power Rangers feature physical fights. Yu-Gi-Oh! introduced battles with a trading card game in the genre. Two or more duelist clash in an epic game with monsters, spells, and traps. The original series introduced many popular cards in the franchise. Dark Magician and Blue-Eyes White Dragon are two of the most popular cards it the game. Konami continues to support both cards in today's game.

Atem's Determination

Pharaoh Atem had the never give up attitude before John Cena made it his slogan. He was the older version of Yugi. He is far more confident than his counterpart. He often took over duels and won a dramatic fashion. Atem had the best attitude in most situations. He would never give up in a duel. He does everything possible to protect his loved ones and save the world from a major threat.

Yugi Moto's Growth

Yugi Moto was not the best player or the strongest character at the beginning of the series. He lacked confidence. That is when Atem stepped in to solve conflicts. Yugi was not a bad duelist. He was pretty good, but not at Atem's level from the start. Yugi started to grow and take control of situations on his own. His first major victory was against Yami Bakura. The talented duelist surprised his foe by winning the game. Yugi continued to improve his skills. He defeated Atem without anyone's help in the final duel.

Joey Wheeler The Underdog

Joey was the underdog and a lot of people cheer for the underdog. He quickly grew into a fine duelist. His motivation to become a good duelist was his little sister Serenity Wheeler. She was losing her eye sight and he wanted to raise enough money to be able to afford her surgery. He did not win Duelist Kingdom. Yugi gave the prize money to Joey to save his sister's eyes. It was one of the most touching moments in the series. He was not a selfish guy. He was working hard for his loved one. Nearly everyone wants to succeed in life and a relative is often a person's motivation. Some people want to provide a better life to their children, spouse, and parents.

Chaotic Villains

My favorite villains in the franchise are from the original series. Their goals and motivations are clear. The actions to achieve their goals were very horrible crimes. Pegasus wanted to revive his deceased wife with the help of the Millennium Puzzle. Marik wanted to use the Egyptian Gods to conquer the world. Darts wanted to rule the world. Each main villain's motivations and goals were perfectly executed in the anime.

Clear Story

Too many TV shows, movies, and videos from today are trying to go deep with complex stories. However, most of these plots fall flat because the stories are not logical. Yugi's story was very clear. It was the classic story about heroes saving the world from villains. The villains would temporary gain advantage over the heroes, but the heroes would always find a way to overcome the odds. We had the anti-hero Seto Kaiba. Kaiba's goals often crossed our heroes' goals and sometimes had to fight alongside Yugi.

The Final Word

Fans will always remember the first Yu-Gi-Oh! series. The series is filled with fantastic characters and memorable moments. The duels were a part of the show's hype, but the story did not solely rely on the cards to grab our interest. We had emotional attachments to these characters. We related to Joey being the underdog and Yugi growing into a young adult. New players should at least watch the original series once. You will not regret it.

Unit of The Week: Sunrise Ray Radiant Sword, Gurguit

The shining sun. That light even flashes to the end of the world.

[ACT](VC) Generation Break 2 Unite (This ability is active if you have called two or more units to (RC) or (GC) during this turn):[Counter Blast (1) & Soul Blast (2)] This unit gets [Power]+5000 for each of your rear-guards until end of turn. Choose up to five of your rear-guards, and they get [Power]+5000 until end of turn.
Sunrise Ray Knight, Gurguit has involved to the next grade! He is now a grade 4 unit. He has gained the ability to build power by fighting among his friendly allies. Gold Paladins are similar to Royal Paladins. They gain strength from their allies in combat. Gurguit's power surpasses everyone when he has the full support of his friend. Nobody can stop the Gold Paladins after Gurguit unleashes the bright sun.

Sunrise Ray Radiant Sword, Gurguit gains 5,000 power for each of your rear-guards. A full field will give 25,000 power to him. His attack pressures your opponent in tight situation. He or she may be forced to guard with every card in hand if he or she does not have a perfect guard. Your rear-guards will continue to pressure your opponent even if your opponent defends the vanguard with perfect guard. All of your rear-guards gain 5,000 power until the end of your turn. Your rear-guard's columns gain 10,000 power. Knight of Red Day, Runo is the perfect booster for your units with Unite. Runo becomes a 9K booster for units with Unite.  Play Flame of Victory to build your soul. He goes to the soul and gives 3,000 power to any unit on the field.

Furthermore, the sun's rays have no limits. His ability can be activated multiple times per turn. He can gain 125,000 power if you are able save your resources to have 5 counter blasts and 10 cards in the soul. Your rear-guards become bigger threats. Giving trigger effects to rear-guards can deal more damage to the opposition! He can be played in any Gold Paladin deck. You do not need Sunrise Ray Knight, Gurguit to be heart to use Sunrise Ray Radiant Sword, Gurguit's skill.

However, Sunrise Ray Radiant Sword, Gurguit is not a perfect card. His Generation Break's cost interferes with his original form's Generation Break. Both cards are required to perform soul blasts to use their abilities. There are some situations when you want to superior call a Perfect Guard with Sunrise Ray Knight, Gurguit's skill. Do not abuse Sunrise Ray Radiant Sword, Gurguit's skill in certain matchups because you may need to use Sunrise Ray Knight, Gurguit's Generation Break.

Overall, Sunrise Ray Radiant Sword, Gurguit is arguable the strongest card in the game. He is just what Gold Paladins needed for the extra deck. His skill can be activated multiple times in a single turn. His power rises to heights that we have never seen in vanguard. His friends also gain a huge power boost. He nearly guarantees your victory under the best scenario. Sunrise Ray Radiant Sword, Gurguit is leading the Gold Paladins to a brighter future.

The 10 Sexiest Cardfight!! Vanguard Cards 2016 Update

Cardfight!! Vanguard has the most artwork among rival trading card games. It should not be a surprise to see great art for female characters. Female cards can sometimes be some of the most popular cards in a trading card game. A bad card can still be valuable because it features an attractive female character. This is a little bit of guy talk. I do not care if you are offended by this subject. Bushiroad would most likely say no unit has a particular race. I can use my imagination! Do not let their looks detract you! These ladies can pack a punch. Some of the game's best cards are women.  My first list was made in 2013.

My list consists of ladies from all eras in Cardfight!! Vanguard. We have female units with Limit Break, Break Ride, Legion, and Stride! Here are the rules. A character cannot take two spots. She will be given one spot for all of her forms.  Take a look at the original top 10 ladies in Cardfight!! Vanguard. These ladies rival Dark Magician Girl's perfect artwork from Yu-Gi-Oh

1. Silver Thorn Dragon Queen, Luquier

There is no woman sexier than a dominant woman. I love Luquier's art! Luquier the darkest female character in Cardfight!! Vanguard. She gets what she wants from men by the means of seduction. All of her victims become her slaves for the rest of their lives.

2. Flower Princess of Perpetual Summer, Verano

I had difficult decision to rank Luquier and Verano. Verano slipped to number two because Luquier is just so good. Her introduction Cardfight!! Vanguard G was the hottest Stride on the show! Verano is a cutie with a dynamic skill. One at her and you will want to go green!

3. Broken Heart Jewel Knight, Ashlei "Яeverse"

Ashlei is one of my favorite cards because of her marvelous art. She is the first female Royal Paladin to be a grade 3 unit. Ashlei's Break Ride skill is disappointing for a Royal Paladin unit. However, her Reverse counterpart is far sexier and has an elite skill. I expect the best from Royal Paladins as they are my favorite clan.

4. Ranunculus Flower Maiden, Ahsha

I am taking one more look at Mother Nature! I am always amazed at Ahsha when I see her in action on Cardfight!! Vanguard G. She is one of the hottest babes in the anime.

5. Mesmerizing Witch, Fianna

Fianna's beauty is mesmerizing. I am sure Blaster Dark would be more focused on Fianna than his enemy in battle. Read Fianna's lore. She is close friends with Luquier.

6. Regalia of Wisdom, Angelica

Angelica is one of the most beautiful cards in Cardfight!! Vanguard. I like her card's art much better than her design from the anime. Her features have better details in the card.

7. Aurora Star, Coral

Bermuda Triangle is the only clan to only feature female units. It stands in good reason to have at least one of their beautiful ladies to earn a spot in my list. Aurora Star, Coral is a "cool beauty" and a popular singer on Cray. She is basically Cardfight!! Vanguard's version of Carrie Underwood. She is more than just a pretty face!

8. Flashing Jewel Knight, Iseult

Iseult is my favorite Perfect Guard and was the first RR that I pulled from a booster pack. Enemies' attacks will not get passed her!

9. Skull Witch, Nemain

Skull Witch, Nemain is the only returning woman from the original list. She is the first female card to catch my attention. Her power is low, but her looks are much higher than almost any unit before her first appearance. Nemain was a key card in Shadow Paladin decks from the original era.

10. Blue Storm Battle Princess, Lynpia

Blue Storm Battle Princess, Lynpia is the most valuable card in my Blue Storm Legion deck. Her skill is fantastic! She earned her spot on this list for her beauty and skills!

The Final Word

These are my top ten sexiest women in Cardfight!! Vanguard. These cards have a special place in my collection binder. It is perfectly fine if you disagree with my opinion! Unit of The Week: Crimson Impact, Metatron

Be prepared! I’m going to heal you up real good! 
[ACT](VC) Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage):[Counter Blast (1) & Choose two of your «Angel Feather» rear-guards, and put them into your damage zone] Choose two face up «Angel Feather» from your damage zone, and call them to (RC). This ability cannot be used for the rest of that turn.
[AUTO](VC):When this unit attacks a vanguard, this unit gets [Power]+3000 until the end of that battle.
Crimson Impact, Metatron is one of the many beautiful angels and nurses in Angel Feather. She is the commanding officer in a special unit. Angel Feather's specialty is manipulating the damage zone and a few cards can heal damage. The clan debut at the start of the Limit Break era. Angel Feathers have continued to grow in a fine clan. Metatron was forgotten for a long time, but made a comeback with a new card named Crimson Roar, Metatron!

Crimson Impact, Metatron's Limit Break sends two rear-guards to the damage zone and two cards from the damage zone to the field. You are basically call two units from your damage zone. This skill helps recover your deck's strongest units. I need to clear the air Metatron's Limit Break. Her skill does not eliminate you when there appears to be six or more cards in your damage zone. The skill must resolve before you consider the damage zone. You must superior call two cards from your damage card to a rear-guard circle. You should have less than six damage after you complete the Limit Break's directions.

Crimson Impact, Metatron has many combos with Angel Feather's most notable units. The Pegasus duo is the most know units to benefit from Angel Feather's manipulation of the damage zone. Thousand Ray Pegasus gains 2,000 power when a card is placed into the damage and gains 4,000 power with Metatron's Limit Break! This makes him an 11K booster! Million Ray Pegasus is a grade two unit and shares the same skill with Thousand Ray Pegasus. Million Ray Pegasus gains a total of 4,000 power from Metatron's skill and his power rises to 13,000.

Bushiroad finally gave Metatron new support in her new form Crimson Roar, Metatron. I was surprised to see this card not be a Cross Ride. However, Crimson Roar, Metatron needs her original form in the soul to fully perform her Limit Break. Both of her skills are similar versions of Crimson Roar, Metatron's Limit Break. Their skills manipulate the damage zone to superior call allies.

Finally, she has a 10k base for her power. She will have trouble defending herself in combat. Fast decks such as Aqua Force and Nova Grappler will cause problems for her. However, her second skill gives her 3,000 power when she attacks a vanguard. She is strong enough to hit a Cross Ride and a good booster will allow her to swing at decent numbers.

Overall, Crimson Impact, Metatron is one of the Angel Feather's most combo orientated units. She made a short impact in her debut. Her success is based on your ability to use rear-guards with skills contacted to the damage zone. Her Limit Break works well with many cards. Crimson Roar, Metatron enhances a deck for Metatron. My main problem with Metatron is her base power of 10K. She may struggle defending herself. You must use more cards to shield her from attacks. Fly into the heavens with Crimson Impact, Metatron.

Start Deck Review: Knight of The Sun

Knight of The Sun is the second Cardfight!! Vanguard start deck. This starter deck features the Gold Paladins! Knight of The Sun includes 14 new cards, 5 cards with alternate art, and 2 RRR cards! Sunrise Ray Knight, Gurguit is the cover card and one of the two RRR cards. He is a reprinted card from Sovereign Star Dragon. I was already playing him in my Gold Paladin deck and I finally have a complete set of him.

Gold Paladins' strategy is superior calling units from the top of the deck. Adding additional cards to the field without using any cards from your hand is a huge advantage. Gold Paladins once struggled as the skills relied on the top card of the deck. Now you have the option of picking from a group of cards on top of the deck. The skills continue to be based on luck, but you have better odds with more options. Their strategy is effective against decks such as Kagero and Narukami.


Golden Paladins' new ability is Unite. Unite is activated when you call two or more units to a rear-guard circle. You call units from your hand or deck to trigger the ability. Unite is a very consistent ability. Gold Paladins have many units that can call more units from your deck.

Golden Strides

You get three cards for your Extra deck. There are two copies of Golden Dragon, Ray Breath Dragon. He is the first G-unit with the Unite skill. He gains 5,000 power and your front row rear-guards gain 2,000 when Unite has been triggered on the field. Your formation will reach new heights of power. Some of your rear-guards' power can go beyond 20,000 under the proper conditions.

Knight of The Sun includes Golden Dragon, Scourge Point Dragon as a promo card. His skill has a strong chemistry with Sunrise Ray Knight, Gurguit's skill. Superior call an unit from the deck to use Scourge Point Dragon's skill. Both Scourge Point Dragon and your new unit gain 5,000 power.

Key Reprints

Sunrise Ray Knight, Gurguit is the start deck's main grade 3 unit. His reprint features new artwork. His Stride Bonus skill perfectly works with Gold Paladins' new Unite ability. His skill superior calls one Gold Paladin from the top of your deck. You are half way to activating Unite. Just call an unit from your hand and Unite will be online! His Generation Break is one of the best defensive skills in the game. He can superior call a card from the deck to the guardian circle when he is attacked by the opposing vanguard. Perfect Guards can be activated by this skill, and only the Perfect Guards without any restrictions. G Perfect Guards do not work with Gurguit because they must be activated from your hand.

You get a complete set of Dawning Knight, Gorboduc. He is the Stride Enabler and has the ability to search Sunrise Ray Knight, Gurguit from your deck! He is a great addition to the deck. The deck's strategy focuses on striding every turn. You can discard Gorboduc to stride if you do not have a grade 3 unit in your hand to pay for the cost.

The Final Word

Knight of The Sun is one of the best decks ever released by Bushiroad.  I highly recommend Knight of The Sun to beginners and veteran players who want to play Gold Paladin. It has everything I want in a deck. I get a powerful boss unit. The G-units are useful and elevate the deck. The reprints are key selling points. Most importantly, the deck's theme is very consistent. You just need to make minor additions to your deck, and your Gold Paladins can be very competitive. Unite the Gold Paladins and obtain victory!
